Since Jilin University hosted the inaugural International Symposium on Shale Oil & Gas Exploration and Development in 2011, the second through fifth editions have been successfully held in 2014, 2018, 2020 and 2023, respectively. Together these conferences have brought together nearly a thousand experts and scholars from more than 20 countries around the world, establishing the event as an influential academic forum in the international shale oil and gas arena.

The 6^th International Symposium on Shale Oil & Gas Exploration and Development will be held on November, 2025 in Changchun, Jilin Province of China. The symposium will be hosted by Jilin University and State Key Laboratory of Deep Earth Exploration and Imaging, undertaken by Construction Engineering College of Jilin University, National-Local Joint Engineering Laboratory of In-situ Conversion, Drilling and Exploitation Technology for Oil Shale, Collaborative Innovation Center for Shale Oil and Gas Exploration and Development, Metallogenic Theory and Key Technology Branch of State Center for Research, and Key Lab of Ministry of Natural Resources for Drilling and Exploitation Technology in Complex Conditions.

With the theme of "Independent Innovation Drives the Shale Revolution; AI advanced Green Solutions Empower a Low-Carbon Future", this symposium will focus on the three strategic directions: breakthroughs in shale oil & gas development theories and key technologies, domestically innovative core equipment, and green low-carbon system development. It aims to facilitate international academic exchanges on the frontier fields of shale oil and gas exploration, development and utilization technology, accelerate the establishment of independent technological systems, enhance cost efficiency and productivity in shale oil and gas development, and support national energy security strategic goals.

Call for Papers:

Symposium participants could submit either abstracts or full papers. Both abstracts and full papers can be submitted via email or the WeChat applet.

Abstracts should be submitted in Chinese and English (300-500 words),with Word (docx.) and Acrobat (pdf.) formats respectively. Please refer to Appendix 1 for the abstract format. For the formats of full papers in Chinese or English, please refer to Appendix 2.

Submission of full papers is encouraged. English papers will be recommended for priority publication in a special issue of Advances in Geo-Energy Research, and Chinese papers will be recommended for priority publication in the regular issue of Journal of Jilin University (Earth Science Edition).

Oral Presentation and Poster：

Documents for Symposium oral presentations shall be uniformly in PowerPoint (ppt.) or Acrobat (pdf.) format, with slides in 16:9 aspect ratio. The duration of regular conference presentations is 15 minutes, and that of invited presentations is 30 minutes.

Symposium posters will adopt a unified format. Please refer to Appendix 3 for the poster template (poster printing size is 90 cm × 120 cm or 36 inch × 48 inch).
